EPCI have a background in Economics and Public Policy. I am based in Bucharest but have lived and studied in London, UK, for my Master’s degree. I have a keen interest in looking at how the EU can evolve to better absorb shocks and how technology can be embedded in the delivery of public services for better outcomes.

Why did I join FutureLab Europe? Because those of us who are willing to step up to face today’s challenges remain disparate voices lost among static noise. FutureLab brings together these voices to share common concerns from unfamiliar perspectives in order to get a better understanding of them and, ultimately, to come up with sound plans of action to address them.

Why do I think that Europe needs active citizens? Because who, then, would watch over the watchmen? Democracy holds the promise of an equitable society. Yet fairness is a human construct, never fixed, always an average pulled in the direction of the largest points. Only through active citizenship, by engaging in our community’s conversation about values and by holding accountable those who we mandate to provide guidance, can we make sure that our own weights in the average push it towards an equitable social balance. Such is the way to ensure that individual rights are upheld and each of us is free to pursue our own idea of happiness.

Dimitrie joined FutureLab Europe in 2016. Since then, he has been involved in the following activities:
